Blah, blah, blah. Nothing new from the people who need to justify their salaries. Sorry Alwyn, nothing against the internationals but the OSCE is sometimes a hinderance just as much as it is helpful.

No need to apologise. I'm not here to defend them, though I do think that relatively speaking they do more good than harm and they do more good than a lot of the international organisations to be found in these parts.

These are the words these guys need to sear in their forehead before they can talk about any 'credibility' of elections.

Trust me, Albanian elections are probably the best run. They didnt even check for my ID when I last voted in Canada.

Well, if our a..holes reform the electoral system and find a way of being fair to the people of Albania, it would not be a mess everytime we go to vote.

I don't think UE and NATO simply depent on just the elections, even though they are part of a good democratic system. I think we'll get better. What's more important, I believe we should be in piece with ourselves first. And I believe we're getting better at this too.

The people on Fiks Fare got hold of the papers and sent a reporter and camera team to the address listed for Mr A Rama. Another article on religion in Albania appeared yesterday. Patrick Poole, writing in the American Thinker , argues that Saudi funding for the construction of mosques and the training of imams is a threat to Albania, since these mosques and imams reflect the fundamentalist interpretation of Islam dominant in Saudi Arabia.

Chatting with a taxi driver while back in Belfast a few months ago, he was intrigued when I told him that I was living in Albania. Did I think it was worth investing in property there, he enquired. Not unless you're prepared to risk losing your money, I replied. By the end of the journey he was considering Bulgaria instead. Despite the risks, some people are starting to invest in Albanian property. The Daily Telegraph reports on Ian Warburton who recently spent 29,000 GBP (around 40,000 EUR) on a one-bedroom apartment in a new development in Tirana. "Given its location, I don't see how it can fail to work," he said.
