One of the more unusual stories that has cropped up in the last few days concerns the sale of armaments by Albania to Armenia. It appears that a shipment of weapons was on its way to Armenia, but was prevented from reaching its destination by the Turkish authorities.
The Azerbaijanis are complaining to the Albanians; the Armenians are denying that they ever bought weapons from Albania; the Albanians are searching for another delivery route that avoids Turkey.
The issue is a sensitive one because of the unresolved conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh.

LOL...good point! But apparently we do! So if this is gonna get us expelled from the OIC, it could be a good omen. We should try selling weapons to Israel next:).
Plus, now that Kosovo is being debated why do we want to be known as firestarters or warmongers?
It is scary in a way because lately I have read that many nations are buying arms. Wasn't this one of the conditions before WWI, bulding up armaments? One other was the rise of nationalisms. In the past 6 years everyone in the world wants to emphasize where he is from with an ugly useless kind of pride. "Oh, I'm from Wukuduku (somewhere in the world i hadn't heard before)", looks down at me and raises one eyebrow.
Tensions have gone up everywhere when it comes at neighbours realtions. The worst offenders are those in the puiblic arena who hold special responsibility to be diplomatic. The Polish twins said something really low like "oh if you Germsn hadn't killed us, we would be more numerous today and vote more". If someone that high in power speaks this way, what do we expect from younger uneducated poorer people? They will eat each other and their neighbours. What about Russia withdrawing from arms pact? Or threatening military action? Is another big world war coming? If this is true, Albanians are again doomed as previous wars showed. This time more deadlt weapons are around, so...
That's why the US( and US-UK) needs to be stronger and no. 1. We need a watchdog in this world so that we can go on with life peacefully, focus on work, music, sports, movies, science, etc. The "I'm better than you" kind of nationalism is a waste of breath and everyone's energy.
Unfortunately this has happened in Albania as well. In the early 90s people were ashamed to say they were Albanians and if I sang the anthem at school or carried the flag I was ridiculed. (I remember actually people from the North in my class made fun of me). For PD, being Albanian meant being communist. This is why they hated and ridiculed Kosovars even more in the 90s in Albania, because Kosovars had enough courage to be Albanian. Berisha's relations with Rrugova were strained.
It is good having healthy reasonable patriotism and love for the country but I think that we went from one extreme to the other a bit(as always).
I remember the match with Greece. It was so ugly! Aren't we hospitable people? Then why did we swear like animals and boo at their anthem? I wouldn't do it even at Serbs when it comes to soccer or a cultural event. Very rude. Ignorant young men. We used to think that Serb fans for example ruined their matches atmosphere with war banners and chants. Haven't we now become a bit ugly like them?
I would say a lot!
Anonymous...WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
Long story short, my opinion is that the azeri foreing minister can not and should not tell us how to conduct our bussines. If we want to trade goods (whatever it may be) with armenia, we will do so.
Armenia is a christian, democratic country that is unfortunately surrounded by countries that dont like either christianity or democracy.
Azeris can't talk about genocide. Those who know a bit of history can tell azeris that over a million armenians were slaughtered by the turks and the world stood silent. Turks wouldnt even let red cross workers get the wounded armenians, do think they are going to allow them to get wepons???
Please, let armenians defend themselves!!!
Our foreing minister Basha showed he has no balls. I surely wish i was the minister!
God Bless Albania and Armenia!!!
