Skanderbeg Square

The reconstruction work around the Square is continuing with the sunken garden area immediately behind the statue of the man himself currently being redeveloped.

It's going to take a long time for those tiny bushes to become trees... I am sad they actually cut down the old pine trees that were there for as long as I can remember...

Skanderbeg is getting a make-over I guess.

I find a certain order in the shapes, the same for the trees.
I paid attention to this section on the arch-studio model and could not understand if they were going to be at the the same ground level as Skanderbeg. They kept Skanderbeg as a focal point, seen from the blvd on the opposite side. The green areas will be nice background

They are creating more "space" behind the Scanderbeg statue because the French Plan for Tirana will destroy the giant Scanderbeg Square! They are jsut trying to compensate for space. Now only the area behind Scanderbeg will be named Scanderbg Square. It's so sad. They will block the mosaic view of the National Museum. It's crazy! They want to build in the middle of the big square! It will cause psychological damage do us!

Glad you liked the photographs.

Regarding the overall development of the square, it would be a shame if it were to be reduced as much as you suggest.

At the same time, the empty space in the middle is just that - an empty space. It doesn't have any function right now and something needs to be done with it.

My suggestion: ban all vehicles from the square; put in cycle lanes and a tram line where the roads now run; plant and landscape the rest.

Make it a focal point for the city that works for people, not cars.

Big in Albania

Ask me how much I knew about Albania before coming here and my list would be a short one: Enver Hoxha, bunkers and Sir Norman Wisdom. I have no idea when or how I acquired this extensive body of knowledge, but the association of Norman Wisdom with Albania was by far the most interesting part of it. I remember watching Norman Wisdom's old films on British television.
