I can’t help but thing that this is a “spin” from our dearest neighbours over the Adriatic Sea …. This will explain the media mania in Italy over a watch that falls on a floor…
I don’t know what to make of this. Is it an attempt of “Bush hate campaign” or just to put down your small neighbours?

Just by looking at who actually aired the "news" (ITAlY). The bigest thiefs that have, are and will exist ever, who invented mafia, corruption, money laundry and all the rest, that if you go in Naples central train station is a 99% change of getting stabed for 5 euros, I dont expect very much. IT IS PURE JEALOUSY.
And I saw the so called evidence, if the guy could have taking it in less that 9/10 of a second in the middle of 30 strong gang of CIA then it most be a world record. The guy must have a medal.

Bush dropped his watch, time 00:54!
As you may notice in the video, Bush's wristwatch fell off at some point, but it has been confirmed by media (VizionPlus TV) that it was found by the bodyguards who handed it over to Lady Bush later on. And you will see in many other videos Bush wearing his watch again while entering Air Force One during departure as he waives back to us. If he had a spare watch, most likely it would have been inside the airplane, therefore, there is no doubt that Bush got his original watch back and everything was accidental. So, don't worry, be happy, time is still ticking on and everything is in Bush's hands! Kosovo will be Independent soon, think of 4th July 2007 as the day of happening, where we can celebrate together with Americans, The Independence Day. (more)

I am a little confused as to how this is related to the article in the Economist. I really enjoyed the article by the way and the earlier pictures were wonderful.

Anywhosle, why dignify any of this crap? If people want to make Albanians out to be thieves, than there is really not much we can do about it.

Lolers, I originally had a link to a report in the IHT of the watch incident because I thought it was a nice quirky story. When it turned out to be the only story from the Bush visit I removed it.

And now the end is near and so i face nanananana... Never did like that crappy song. But it's true nevertheless. Tomorrow in the wee hours of the morning we will be heading for the airport for the last time. I suppose it was too much to expect that I could have kept this going while getting ready to leave. Miss Globe 2007

On Saturday, we were at the Rogner meeting with an expat friend who was leaving Tirana. It was breakfast time, and as our friend was finishing his tea the breakfast room started to fill up with over-dressed (or under-dressed) young women wearing blue sashes. These were the contestants for the Miss Globe 2007 beauty pageant being held in Tirana tonight at the Palace of Congresses. High heel boots and mini-skirts - or in a couple of cases micro-skirts, or possibly just belts - have never struck me as obvious breakfast attire, but the girls seemed happy enough tottering and wobbling around with their tea and toast. I'm not sure why they were wearing their sashes - perhaps in case they forgot which country they came from. As we were leaving they were boarding a large coach which I had seen a number of times around the city in the last few days for their next trip. I'm not sure how some of them made it up the steps, or how they managed to sit down, but perhaps these are the ki...

Welcome to Our Man in Tirana . I moved to Tirana, capital of Albania, in October 2005 and left in October 2007. This blog is a mix of photographs, reports, links, impressions and, undoubtedly, prejudices relating to the city and the country. Since I am no longer in Tirana I am no longer updating this blog. However, there are over 300 posts covering this two year period and I hope that they are still of some interest.
