Thought I might as well try to use some of the gimmicks on the programme. Most of them look terrible but this one worked nicely.

When I go to Butrint I "baptize" my ("muslim"/atheist) friends in the old remains of the church and take a picture of it. But, hey, it works on them psychologically, and 2-3-or 4 years later they get baptized for real. I think that those that are atheist in Albania are just shy, if you invite them and make them feel comfortable in a friendly environment, they will join. What is important is that deep inside they start to feel and believe.

It's good that the English Lords Rothschild & Sainsbury set up the charitable "Butrint Foundation" to help save this beautiful place.

What a visionaries so many of the Rothschild family dynasty have been in history.It must be in the breeding!

Let's now hope that our Government doesn't allow illegal developments in the area. Trouble is, I am not sure that they have the right breeding. Here's hoping that they have some Albanian common sense.

A minor right-wing faction, Parti 'Balli Kombetar' , submitted papers to the election authorities registering their candidate, Akile Rama. The people on Fiks Fare got hold of the papers and sent a reporter and camera team to the address listed for Mr A Rama. Patrick Poole, writing in the American Thinker , argues that Saudi funding for the construction of mosques and the training of imams is a threat to Albania, since these mosques and imams reflect the fundamentalist interpretation of Islam dominant in Saudi Arabia.

Chatting with a taxi driver while back in Belfast a few months ago, he was intrigued when I told him that I was living in Albania. Did I think it was worth investing in property there, he enquired. Not unless you're prepared to risk losing your money, I replied. By the end of the journey he was considering Bulgaria instead. Despite the risks, some people are starting to invest in Albanian property. The Daily Telegraph reports on Ian Warburton who recently spent 29,000 GBP (around 40,000 EUR) on a one-bedroom apartment in a new development in Tirana. "Given its location, I don't see how it can fail to work," he said.
